3. Don't pout
4. It's as much fun to give as receive
5. Some day's it is okay to feel alittle chubby
6. Make your presents known
7. Always ask for a little bit more than you really want
8. Bright red can make anyone look good
9. Wear a wide belt and no-one will notice how many pounds you have gained
10.If you only show up once a year, every one will think you are very important.
11.Whenever you are at a loss for words, say Ho, Ho, Ho

I think this is pretty good advice.  I really like number 5.  haha

11-11-11

For some reason, 11-11-11 seems so amazing to me. I guess to think that it will not happen again until 2111. I wonder if in 1911 it was that talked about or received that much noteriety as it did today. Also that it was Veteran's Day made it seem more important.  I was thinking that in 2001, did I ever think I would be playing on my iphone a game that I could play with people all over the world.  Ok, it is Words with Friends.  I have met alot of nice people while playing the game.
I imagine alot of history and memorable events were made today.  God Bless and remember our Veterans.

Cousins

It was great to be able to meet up with the girl cousins in
Sonoma. We had a 5 hour luncheon and gab fest. It is too
bad that we all live in the same state and never get together.  The last time we were together was 3 years ago at our Family Reunion in Minnesota. At that event, there is usually about 2-300 people so not as intimate as this little gathering was.  We ate at "The Girl and the Fig".. alot of organic and healthy food seemed to be the faire in alot of places that we went to in the Santa Rosa and surrounding area.

Northern California

In October, I went with my cousin Sandie to Northern CA to visit her daughter. I have lived in CA for many years and have never been in the Redwoods.  We took a short jaunt into the forrest. It was so serene and lush. Made me realize how wonderful God's creations are.

MERMAID OR WHALE

A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"
The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:
"Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.
They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia.
They sing incredibly well and sometimes even are on cds. They are impressive and dearly loved animals, which everyone defend and admires.
Mermaids do not exist.
But if they existed, they would line up to see a psychologist because of a problem of split personality: woman or fish?
They would have no sex life and could not bear children.
Yes, they would be lovely, but lonely and sad.
And, who wants a girl that smells like fish by his side?
Without a doubt, I'd rather be a whale.
At a time when the media tells us that only thin is beautiful, I prefer to eat ice cream with my kids, to have dinner with my husband, to eat and drink and have fun with my friends.
We women, we gain weight because we accumulate so much wisdom and knowledge that there isn't enough space in our heads, and it spreads all over our bodies.
We are not fat, we are greatly cultivated.
Every time I see my curves in the mirror, I tell myself: "How amazing am I ?! "

Reading

I belong to a book club. I wanted to  share the enjoyment that I got from a couple books that I have read recently. For some reason, as I have gotten older, I mean matured, history and back in the real old days interests me. In high school, I could have cared less..why did we need to know about what happened over a hundred years ago. "These is my Words" (yes, that is correct). By Nancy Turner. It takes place back in the pioneer days and the main character is this awesome female that encounters situations that some men couldn't handle. The other book was "Nefertini". Normally I would never read a book that is based back in the Pharaoh days in Egypt. It was another powerful woman story.
I prefer reading biographies but nice to read a fiction novel once in awhile.

September 1968

I just read a blog that was talking about "what did you do in September of 1968?" I did not have to think very hard on that one. My girlfriend and I packed up her 1966 Turquoise blue Ford Mustang with all of our worldly possessions and left the beautiful state of 10,000 lakes and headed for the other side of the globe to California.  What brought us to California? MEN  She and her boyfriend stayed for a couple months and headed back to Minnesota. Obviously, I stayed and that was 43 years ago. Sometimes I feel like a native but if you have read my ebook "Boomers in Blue Jeans", you would easily realize I wasn't always a California girl.

Green Smoothie Drink

I know, the first reaction is probably, eeewww..but trust me, it is delicious.  I have a Vita Mix Blender and it is heavy duty so really does a job on the ingredients.  Here is what I put in mine and the amounts are a handful except for the liquids and supplements.  Here we go:
apple (everything but the core)
spinach
kale
chard
cucumber
couple slices of lemon
scoop of protein powder
scoop of wheat grass
scoop of spirulina
scoop of flax seed
couple tablespoons of Greek Yogurt
frozen strawberries
frozen blue berries
frozen bananas
I use almond milk but any liquid would work
sometimes I throw in a few ice cubes if I want it colder

I know, you want to go make one right now.. some people put in avocado.. and not using all the ingredients
I use, isnt going to make it not taste good.. it is still yummy and sooo healthy.

Yoga

A friend of mine (thanks, Suzanne) asked me to go to a Yoga class about a year ago. Of course, I had heard of Yoga but I told her that I just didn't think I could sit and meditate that long.  See how you get a perception of something and never research it to find out what it is about. She said come with me and try it. So I did. The instructor (Donna Lee) is so knowledgeable, I swear she could be a Doctor.  It is far from sitting and meditating, it is not a moments rest until the final relaxation at the end.  It has been amazing for me, no more leg cramps and back aches. I know my chiropractor misses me and I still do believe in chiropractic care but Yoga has worked magic on me.  Gets the old body all stretched out. Makes me think when I was VERY young, people would come over to our house and my mom would ask if they wanted to see me put my leg around my neck. Well, what were they going to say.  And I can assure you I haven't advanced that far in Yoga YET at this time of my life.

Bucket Lists

Ever since I saw the movie a few years back, "The Bucket List", I have been thinking more and more of my own. I have made one and some are pretty realistic and some are the kind I may do on a dare.  I have joined a couple websites that are fun where you can publish your lists as well as look at other peoples.  The sites are:
http://www.sharebuckets.com/ and http://www.my50.com/

The launching of my ebook

after several weeks of brainstorming and researching, I am ready to go, almost! I just hope everyone enjoys the book as much as I enjoyed writing it.  It was fun comparing notes with my friends and family about the good old days.
